Willis Haviland Carrier was born November 26 ,1876 in Angola New York.Young Willis was a member of an old New England family. He was educated at Angola Accademy.Later on in Carriers life he won a state scholarship and attended Cornell University. He graduated from Cornell in 1901 with a degree in electrical engineering. He then joined Buffalo Forge Company as a reaserch engineer.Carrier became chief engineer of the firm in 1906.

Willis Carriers groundbreaking design, was submitted on July 17, 1902 and was described as the invention that could change the world.I guess you can say Willis created air conditioning before it was cool.I need to stop with these air conditioning puns, your probably not even a fan.

No one improved his design but,the modern air conditioner became a lot smaller and easier to use.He won the ASME medal in 1934 as an air conditioning engineer.

Willis died October 7, 1950, New York City, NY.
