Very First Public Release
We are thrilled to announce the beta release of our Rehearsal Live Share (RLS) feature. If you haven't seen it yet, please check out the product announcement we posted a few weeks ago. Without wanting to toot our own horn too much, we are delivering this only a few months into what by rights should be a multi-year development effort. Put another way, this is only the beginning. And while we are confident the core functionality is solid, there may be a few rough edges yet to sand down.
Who Should Use This?
Our first priority was to deliver RLS to our existing RMS Coach customer base, for musical theatre titles already developed for the the latest versions of this software. However, because our RMS Creator platform allows you to create your own RMS Coach content, really anything is possible.
In the latter case though, it's important to understand there is work involved before you can take advantage of the RLS functionality. We'll help you every step of the way. But if you are not sure how to create or obtain your own MIDI data, you might want to wait until a future release, to minimize the hurdles.
What To Expect?
As we mentioned here, we wanted to get something to customers fast. This meant focusing on the most basic use case: a one-on-one coaching session. Music director with single cast member. Vocal teacher with student.
We know that most people want a larger, multi-participant experience. And indeed, that effort is well underway. In the meantime though, we wanted to provide something beneficial, while simultaneously gathering important feedback that will make the product better in the long run. We reasoned this approach will speed the process along and help us get to a powerful place, well in advance of the next academic school year.
Current RMS Coach customers can download a free update to begin using RLS right away. If you want to try it out with your own content, we offer a 14 day free trial as well as a limited opportunity to lock in an early adopter rate for RMS Creator.
Additionally, please see our getting started page, which is meant to get you up and running.
On The Docket
We expect to release the first multi-participant version shortly, within a few weeks. This will be our official Version 1.0.
Then, in addition to reacting to feedback and the inevitable bugs, we will expand RLS into our other resources. RMS Mix is in the on-deck circle. This will apply the RLS concept beyond standard MIDI into multitrack audio.
Beyond this, please see our outline of longer term plans.
