Dogs are a man's best friend. But what kind of dog is your favourite? From Chow Chows to Labradors, everybody loves a a playful, furry friend to cuddle or run around with. The type of dog I will be focusing on today is the Maltese X Shih Tzu (Mal-Shi).
Before we jump in to this article, I'll introduce myself. My name is Olivia Mentor, I am 15 years old and I love dogs. I love cats as well but my cat always runs off to adventure in our neighbours backyards. I have a dog of 3 years old named Charlie. He is the most cutest, funniest, playful and happiest dog you will ever met. There's neve a dull moment when he's by your side. Charlie is a Mal-Shi and my family and I have had him since he was 3 weeks of age.
Mal-Shi's are not purebred dogs, as they are a cross between the Maltese and the Shih Tzu. They are a small breed of dogs with thick, fluffy fur that grows back fast. They have short ears that hang low and long or short fluffy tails. They may be prone to tear staining, but it is not as common in crossbreeds.
Pet shops charge upwards of $300 for these little dogs which have become popular over recent years. An average lifespan for this breed is 12-14 years. The Mal-Shi is an ideal dog for families who want a small active dog that has a happy personality, or older people looking for a companion. These dogs should have regular walks, but are also happy to exercise themselves in their own backyard.
