The location of cape schanck, gunnamatta and st Andrew

Location of cape schanck

Location of st. Andrews beach

Location of gunnamatta beach

The features that Cape Schanck has are showing in the image above. Volcanical rocks is a type of rock that made during the original volcano's eruption and is all covered by ash etc. After it is cooled down it formed volcanical rock. Headland is an land that have large body extent under the sea. Wave-cut platform is a narrow flat area at the base of the sea cliff. Cape schanck are formed through many ways, such as plate tectonics, overflowing of the ocean to a coastline and the slicing of a glacier through a bedrock. All the artificial constructions such as tresle bridge and road work along the coastline is affecting the nature environment around areas.

figure 1.6 is Gunnamatta beach. The features are beach, sand dunes and waves. beach is a narrow, gently sloping strip of land that lies along the edge of an ocean, lake, or river. A sand dunes is a hill of sand. They mostly form by wind patterns create the sand formation. Wave is a disturbance on the surface of a liquid body, as the sea or lake, in the form of a moving ridge or swell. Beaches are the result of wave action by which waves or currents move sand or other loose sediments of which the beach is made as particles are held in suspension.

On the image above is st. Andrew beach. A sand dunes is a hill of sand. They mostly form by wind patterns create the sand formation. A wave-cut platform is a narrow flat area at the base of the sea cliff is wave cut platform. It form because sea wave action hitting against . Vegetation is the plants that grow on the sand dunes or dirt around the costal land area. A beach is formed when deposited materials carried by waves are gather in a zone along the coast. The materials on the beach change in size from fine sand to pebbles . The waves sort these materials according to the weight. The finer sand deposited nearer the sea and the coarser materials further inland.

Human impact

Some beaches in order to make it more entertaining for people to visit, they flpatten the sand and build public toilets as well as carparks, which improved the convenience but destroyed the living conditions for those animals such as Shells and crabs! All the artificial constructions such as tresle bridge and road work along the coastline is affecting the nature environment around areas.

Coastal management strategies

Pretect the environment

Cape schanck has the boardwalk to allow people to walk on. But there is also area that allow plant to grow. People won't step on vegetation easily so the plant won't distort easily. In gunnamatta beach there is sigh that warning people about protests animals in that area.

Provide education information

In St. Andrew and gunnamatta there are multi sigh that had provide education information on it. It gives information about the costal ecosystems and costal habit. and there is also sighs for be mindful of the animals.

Restrict human movement

In gunnamatta beach they strategy is build up fence to protect plant. Therefore human won't step in and destroy the plant easily. The plant grow quite successfully without damage. The protection of plant is really important, because if the amount of the plant decrease it would have food chain effect on the animals.

Regenerate the environment

In St. Andrew there is no any fences, sign or road build on the beach. That make the plant grow more healthily. Now the area if st.Andrew is mostly covered in plant.
