Pale Blue Dot A Nature Photography Concentration by William Risk

It all started on a rainy day...

I was working on a photoshoot in a premiere studio with a high profile client on a visit in Seattle. The rain was pouring, and after hearing a loud crack of thunder, the electricity cut out and we were out of power. We waited 10 minutes, then 30, then realized, even though the rain had spotted, the power wasn't coming back on anytime soon. So, I took my client outside, she took me to a nearby park, and we started shooting using nature as our backdrop. Soon, I was done taking photos of her, but couldn't stop snapping shots of the flora and fauna all around. That's when things changed for me, and photography became my golden ticket to see this beautiful world we call home.

The trick is to realize that everything about nature is inherently beautiful. You don't have to be standing on the edge of one of the Seven Wonders of the World to get that perfect shot. You just have to understand that there is beauty everywhere, and use your lens to capture it in its most natural state.

Like it or not, for the moment, the Earth is where we make our stand."
"To me, it underscores our responsibility to deal more kindly with one another, and to preserve and cherish the pale blue dot, the only home we've ever known.” – Carl Sagan
