A glance at the Cobras
The Coker College women's golf team looks to kick off their season at the Battle at Old South after their trip to LMU was cancelled last weekend due to Hurricane Florence. The Cobras look to start strong just as they did last year, when they captured the title at the Converse College Fall Invite to open the season. Last season the Cobras recorded five top-eight finishes in the nine tournaments they competed in. Returning this season are five golfers with at least 10 rounds played last year, including two of the top three scorers from last season in Kelli Smith and Ana Orlov. Smith recorded a season scoring average of 81, while Orlov was not far behind at 82.11. Taylor Mayers fired off the low round of the year, carding a 72 (E) at the Converse College Fall Invite.

Smith enters her junior season following a solid sophomore campaign which saw her finish with the second-lowest scoring average on the team, and the lowest of the returning players this season. Last season, Smith played in all nine tournaments, averaging scoring average of 81. Her low round of 76 came at the Wingate Challenge, while her best finish of 11th was at the Converse College Fall Invite.
