Officer Zaugg & No-Shave November

No Shave November is an annual event involving the growing of beards and mustaches during November to raise awareness of various cancers.

We want to evoke conversations, raise awareness and support cancer prevention, research and education. Each of us has been impacted by cancer in one way or another; we want to do something that will help make a difference.

The Pendleton Police Department believes in the power of its relationship with the community, and hopes individuals will follow by participating and donating to cancer research throughout the month of December. This year officers have chosen to donate all monies donated to the Anson Fairbank family and the local chapter of American Cancer Society.

Officer Zaugg challenged the students of the Pendleton School District to get involved and donate. The contest ran from December 4 until December 18. The winning school/class of the challenge got to choose how Officer Zaugg shave and/or color his beard. Officer Zaugg will wear the new beard design to school for one school day on December 19. After two weeks of fundraising WASHINGTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL came out as the WINNER!!!! Students district wide raised over $867.00 for the Fairbanks family as well as the local chapter of the American Cancer Society. Thank you to all who donated!

Sunridge Middle School raised over $200, with the 7th grade alone donating over $120.

7th grade Science cell cakes

We would like to send out a big thank you to all the parents for supplying the cakes and candies for the project. The students did a great job and they enjoyed their cakes when we were done. ~ Mr. Curtis, Mr. Williams, and Mrs. Harnden
