Class 9’s Autumn Learning Journey

What a fantastic start to the school year Class 9! Your attitude to learning has been fantastic and you have made me and Miss Jones very proud!

In LIRA we have been exploring the text of Darwin’s Voyage of Discovery which linked to our topic ‘The Galápagos Islands’. We have really enjoyed reading this book!

During our first Literacy unit we learnt about different sea creatures ready to write a non-chronological report! We used skills such as complex sentences, high level and ambitious vocabulary to produce some amazing outcomes!

After we completed our non - chronological report we moved onto writing a setting description all about the Galápagos Islands! We used some fantastic vocabulary to describe our senses and how we were feeling when we saw the beautiful landscape!

In maths we started our learning off with place value! Then we moved onto to look at addition and subtraction then finally looking at multiplication and division! Even though there were some tricky problems we showed our school value of resilience!

Our focus this month was Geography where we were looking at the Galápagos Islands! During this topic we learnt and used lots of geographical skills from reading a compass to creating a cross section of a topographical map!

During this half of the term lots of children showed the school values and were awarded certificates!

There will be lots of exciting things coming up next term! Here is a sneak peek of what we will be doing in History!

A big well done to everyone in Class 9 for having a brilliant attitude to their learning! Have a lovely relaxing half term!
