Earthquakes in different Countries.

8,000 people die once a year by earthquakes.

Southern California has 10,000 earthquakes once a year!

These are the earthquakes in Japan and Pakistan.

An earthquake is the sometimes violent shaking of the ground caused by movements of Earth's tectonic plates. Most earthquakes occur along fault lines, which is where two tectonic plates come together.

Earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake. When two blocks of rock or two plates are rubbing against each other, they stick a little. ... When the rocks break, the earthquake occurs.

fun fact: The ancient greeks used to think that earthquakes were caused by air rushing out of the caves!
