Welcome to the Goering Center eNewsletter Scroll down and we'll show you around.

There’s a lot going on here this Spring. We’re guessing it’s like that at your company too. Maybe it’s the new season? Maybe it’s just hard work paying off. Regardless, we want you to be in-the-know.

Let's start with a re-cap of a fun, recent event, followed by three "spotlights" and three interesting articles from our Corporate Partners.

Volunteer Appreciation Night (Re-cap)

On April 23, we invited our volunteers to a night at the Cincinnati Ensemble Theatre. It was special. Volunteers mingled in the Theatre's new reception lounge (with great Taste of Belgium catering too), and then sat back for an inspiring performance of the musical His Eye Is On the Sparrow.

Speaking of Volunteers...

Did you know that we have a monthly "Volunteer Spotlight?" This month we are recognizing Bryan Holland (former President of Holland Advertising). Bryan has served in many ways here, but he currently chairs our Marketing Committee. Thanks for your service, Bryan!

The Goering Center has been a valued partner and knowledge catalyst for Holland Advertising. Since community service is one of our core values, it is a perfect solution to give back to an organization that has contributed to the successful growth and evolution of our business.

We also enjoy putting the spotlight on our members. This month's spotlight is Wolf GroupThey capture insights through sensory science to put it very simply, but they do much more than that. Read more of their story here.

I Know You Don't Want to Read This...

Blake Roe, CPA, Partner, Plante Moran

As a CPA I am well aware that as a business owner the last thing you want to talk or read about are changing Accounting Standards. However, I also know that what would be even worse would be to get a call from your bank saying they have an issue with your financial statements which calls your loan into question.

Impact of Tax Reform on Businesses: Verdict Still Out

Marc Dizard, Senior Vice President, Investment Director

Within 24 hours of being signed into law, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 set off a domino effect among large corporations sharing the windfall expected from the tax reform by announcing bonuses for employees and charitable donations to benefit their local communities. But what about smaller businesses and their employees? PNC recently asked owners and executives of 500 small to medium-size businesses across the country what they think about the potential impact of tax reform on their businesses.
