CD ALBUM "SURVIVAL“ — STUDIO PRODUCTION
COMPOSED, ARRANGED, ALL INSTRUMENTS PERFORMED, RECORDED, MIXED, MASTERED AND PRODUCED BY REUF SIPOVIC.
My original intention was for the album Survival to speak for itself, independent of the place, time and circumstances leading up to its development. It was supposed to be a timeless story that provided room for discovery and identification with personal quests for “Survival”. I wanted to give listeners the freedom to create independently or with the help of the title of each of the compositions their own visions and stories.
But then I realized that my work would lose its meaning without its story, because it is not only my story...
“A story began,” as the Bosnian writer Meša Selimović wrote in one of his books….
“WITHOUT BENEFIT FOR myself or anyone else, from a need stronger than benefit or reason. I must leave a record of myself, the chronicled anguish of my inner conversations, in the vague hope that a solution will be found when all accounts have been settled (if they may ever be), when I have left my trail of ink on this paper, which lies in front of me like a challenge.”
And today, “in the strokes of these letters at least some of what was in me will remain, no longer to perish in eddies of mist as if it had never been, or as if I had never known what happened...”
And today for tomorrow - I still believe in things brought forth sincerely from the bottom of the heart and human spirit.
That is how Survival originated as a modern symphony that opens bridges; an endless sound which is, however, bound to the place, time and story of its origin.

SURVIVAL and SEVDAH by REUF SIPOVIC
LIVE CONCERT RECORDED IN BERLIN TEMPODROM – CD AND Blu-Ray - RELEASE PLANED FOR 2019 | 2020
IT ALL HAPPENS WHEN IT COMES TOGETHER
Sevdah by Reuf Sipovic - with band and vocals by Zeljka Antelj
" What could I possibly present that would be better than that which already flows in my blood: “Sevdah” traditional Bosnian music."
"Naturally it would have been more difficult, if the album “Survival,” with its character and musical personality, had not already brought together fantastic musicians, who all worked together in the months before the live premier of Survival to try out my ideas and arrangements as well as their own input and bring the Sevdah pieces to life, as I experience them myself."
Together we brought this project to life in a glorious manner.

REUF SIPOVIĆ - GUITARS - COMPOSER - PRODUCER
Reuf Sipović received his first guitar when he was five years old. Even as a child he was interested in different musical styles. Inspired by rock, blues, classical, flamenco and bosnian traditional music, he taught himself to play and developed his own individual style. His guitar was his permanent companion.
Due to the war in his own country, he emmigrated to Germany when he was seventeen. There he perfected his guitar technique and played in various studio productions and live concerts. In the following years he composed several pieces, established the label Lava Sound Productions in 2005 and released his first single, “River Lim,” in 2006, which received high praise in professional circles.
Over a period of several years he worked on his first album, “Survival,” which was released in 2011. He composed, arranged and mixed all the pieces himself, as well as played all the instruments. Through his second home in Berlin and his stunning first CD he was able to meet gifted musicians such as Hans Hartmann (Chapmanstick), Adam Weisman (Percussion), Ulrich Mais (Cello),… With these musicians he arranged a live concert of “Survival” in 2011 in Tempodrom in Berlin, from which a recording is now finished. During this collaborative project, new pieces based on the traditional style of old bosnian songs were completed (which formed the second half of the concert) and later released under the title “Sevdah by Reuf Sipović”.
