Lancaster Football 2018

I had the chance to watch the 2018 Lancaster Legends Football team this past fall from a far and I was impressed by the young men that took the field. Here are a few pictures that never made the light of day on the website but very well could have. The website will only ever have a small number of pictures but on here this will be long and I will not apologize for it. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

On August 31st 2018 the Lions of Lockport made their way down Transit Road to meet the Legends. It was the 30th meeting between the 2 schools with Lancaster holding a 20-10 advantage in the series. Lancaster and Lockport have met in Orchard Park in 1999 for the Section VI Championship game. Lancaster would come out on top of that game 21-14.

The first game between these 2 schools was in 1921, Niagara Falls would prevail 27-0 and again in 1922 by a score of 37-0. Lancaster vs Depew

91st Meeting

On Friday Oct. 12th the Lancaster Legends welcomed the Wildcats of Depew High School. This meeting was the 91st time the two schools have met in the series with Lancaster holding a 52-33 lead. There have been 6 ties in the series with the most recent one being in 1989, 0-0. There were 4 times when the squads would face off twice in one year, 1919, 1925, 1926, and 1932. There have been breaks in the game as well. From 1921-24, 1933-1940 the schools did not play one another. From 1941 to today, Lancaster and Depew have been playing continuously.

In 1963, the coaches agreed to schedule the game at the end of the season so the players would have their rival to look forward to. From 1964 on, the game has been the last game of the season for both schools. This year was slightly different as Lancaster had a game the following week against OP.
