Sindarius will fix up Barr Street gym, bring stars here By Emily Pollok Lancaster News March 3, 2019

Lancaster’s NBA star Sindarius Thornwell has scheduled some hometown hoops for this summer, and he’s bringing five other basketball big names with him. The Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard will host the second Kuntry Classics men’s basketball league at the Barr Street School gym, which he is planning to renovate for the event. Thornwell played for Lancaster High’s Bruins and in 2017 took the USC Gamecocks to the NCAA Final Four and was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Year. The pro-amateur Kuntry Classics league will feature local amateur players, former college players and even a few NBA players, said Ron Trapps, a board member of Hope on the Hill, a nonprofit housed at the Barr Street facility. According to Trapps, expected league participants include Torrey Craig, a Great Falls High School grad who now plays small forward for the Denver Nuggets, Phoenix Suns point guard Jawun Evans, Boston Celtics point guard P.J. Dozier, former Chicago Bulls shooting guard Anthony Morrow and former North Carolina Tar Heels center Kennedy Meeks, who is from Charlotte. “I think it’s going to blow up,” Trapps said. “It’s going to put Lancaster on the map.”
