Summer Bank Holiday August 24th-27th

The August Bank Holiday weekend is almost upon us, and Medway CCG wants you to know how to get help if you need it.

Your local pharmacy is a great place to start if you need advice or treatment. Anyone who takes regular medication should check they have enough to last until after the Bank Holiday. Patients should ask for a repeat prescription in plenty of time but only order what they need. Stockpiling of medication is potentially risky and wastes NHS resources.

Take time to restock medicine cabinets while doing your general shopping. It is better to have painkillers or plasters in the house than having to drive around looking for them when many shops are closed. A well-stocked medicine cabinet should include: painkillers; thermometer, plasters, bandages and sticking tape; antiseptic cream; sunscreen, re-hydration salts; indigestion treatments and antihistamines.

If you don’t have internet access or a smartphone, and need health help when it’s not an emergency, NHS 111 can give you free health advice, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
