Opening Weekend in Covelli
The Buckeyes officially opened the Covelli Center August 30-31 hosting Lehigh, Texas Tech and VCU for the first weekend of preseason tournament play. Sophomore Mia Grunze recorded a career-high 30 kills vs Texas Tech while averaging 4.91 kills per set throughout the course of the weekend. All six freshmen from the Buckeyes’ Top 5 2019 recruiting class saw time on the floor with Jenaisya Moore contributing 52 kills, Mac Podraza handing out 135 assists and Kylie Murr posting 57 digs. Moore and Grunze were named to the Sports Imports D.C. Koehl Classic All-Tournament Team for their efforts in leading the Buckeyes to a 2-1 start in the 2019 season.
Buckeyes Compete at 2019 Final Four Venue
The Ohio State Buckeyes had the unique opportunity of competing at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh over the weekend to test out this year’s final four venue with Pitt, Duquesne and Green Bay. Pittsburgh will be a great host city with plenty of fun restaurants, hotels and sports fans – Check out the videos and pictures from a great experience!
This week Ohio State is preparing for a trip to Western Kentucky to take on Tulane, WKU and Bowling Green for the third weekend of preseason play. The following week the Buckeyes are set to host Miami OH, Illinois State and Dayton at the Covelli Center to close out preseason in preparation for Big Ten competition. We are excited to celebrate Buckeye Alumni on Friday, September 20 during our 8pm match vs Dayton!
