What dangers do you see as a person stranded on this deserted island? I see the dangers of finding foods and how to survive. Hopefully it will provide good food for us not to starve or eat each other.
Create a list of characters from the novel The Lord of the Flies and add details about them using textual evidence from the novel.

- 4. Clean up after yourself

- 6. Do your job

Type the rules we created as a classroom from the board. This is something we will return to. In the meantime, pick the rule you find most important and explain why that rule, above all others is most important on this island.
I think that the most important rule is number five which is communicate efficiently. I think that this is the most important rule because if you don't communicate great then someone can get lost or hurt,if you are all yelling then no one can understand each other. I think that we should really take part in this because of the consequences that come if you don't take part. When we can talk to each other nicely we know other peoples concerns. We know if the others want to take care of a different business they can talk to the leader or just discuss this in your own group of kids they know or the group that you where put in or assigned to.
The theme of the story is....
The theme of this book is survival. All of the characters are trying to keep them selves alive and do their job they are looking for food, hunting and doing all that they need to to help them selves out and others. I don't think that the book told us how they are sleeping from all the conditions i think that they are sleeping on the floor or should i say ground . They say that the kids were very dirty i don't think that they have time to go for a swin
Foreshadowing is when a action occurs to help out a future event , like how jack took the twins from their fire keeping job and and we don't know what the outcome will be because we are still waiting for an answer.
oh boy oh boy what happened
Ralph has said, “This is a good island” (Golding 35). Ralph’s pronouncement will prove ironic; it is definitely NOT a good island. What problems do readers already know about? Explain why these problems prove this is NOT a good island after all.
Some problems that they have faced so far are that the ships cant see them even though the smoke shows from the top of the mountain. Another problem is that they need food and it i hard to get actual food other than the fruits that grow on the trees. The story also says that the children are very dirty like that haven't showered in along time. Another problem they are facing is that the oldest kid is only eleven years old they are searching for rescue at a very little age. These problems are not good because they are struggling in those parts of the story. Struggles are the same things as problems this means that they are not in good condition.
Symbols are physical things that represent abstract ideas. The following are some of the symbols from the novel The Lord of the Flies.
- Meat symbolizes the temptation the boys face on the island.
- Smoke symbolizes that they are trying to get rescue.
- Simon symbolizes goodness because he is a peace maker.
- The platform symbolizes civilization because it gives you attention.
- The island symbolizes isolation because they are alone.
- The conch symbolizes law and order because its like a court.
- Painted faces symbolizes anonymity because of how anonymous it is.
- Piggy's glasses symbolize survival because they are stranded.
- Piggy symbolizes democracy for freedom.
This is the description of the beast.
Describe the Beast that seems to be stalking the island. Use the text as backup for your info.
The beast that seems to be stalking the island looks just a shadow. The kids think its a beast but all the description it gives such as when it says that is doesn't leave foot prints or they would have found it already. The book also says that the creature has claws and teeth they also describe the "beast" as a having wings. When the twins Sam and Eric were taking care of the fire they think that they saw the "beast"but it was actually a man that was in a parachute that fell, we don't know if he is conscious or dead.
Name at least two things the boys are doing or have given up that show how they are now operating on instinct and no longer trying to follow the rules of society. Explain your answers with information from the text.
The boys on the island don't communicate that well anymore because they want to do there own things and not listen to the other boy's decision's. They have broke the rules such as going out by themselves at night and they think they know what is better for them and they try to help out. Ralph doesn't think he could or can be chief or leader anymore he thinks that piggy would do a better job because has more knowledge. The only problem is he still has kid mind. They also talk out of turn , they don't really care who is holding the conch they want to speak for themselves.
Two rituals people are most familiar with are weddings and funerals. Pick an event (a wedding or a funeral). Make a list of at least 3 phrases people use at the event you picked. Using one of your phrases, explain why your phrase is helpful in the situation.
Rituals are formal events that are part of the order in a ceremony. There are two ways of showing rituals which are weddings and funerals. Weddings are happy ant they also have lots of phrases used but, so do funerals the phrases that are mostly used are like "in the memory of", or "r.i.p (rest in peace)", another one is "you will be dearly missed".The phrase that is mostly used is R.I.P. The quote '"rest in peace" people say this because they hope that the one who lost there life is in a good place now. They want to emphasize how they feel and tell the others that they should lay in a good space for the rest of the time until eternity. Rest in peace is usually associated with Christianity and biblical meaning but it can also be for other beliefs. When you think of a person saying
Choose a character, either Ralph or Jack and explain the effect seeing the Beast has on the character you have chosen. Use textual information to support your answer.
I choose Jack because of how he left the group with the biguns and still were productive. If jack didn't leave then he wouldn't have killed that pig but he is still struggling to get fire and other things. We soon figure out that we have more to the story than we know because of the foreshadowing. We think that jack will struggle but we know that he rises up and wants to get more power. Jack stole fire from Ralph's group because he can't make the fire himself. Jack wouldn't have created a group and became the leader of it. since jack left the group he gave another new identity.
Retell in your own words what has happened to Simon. Use textual evidence to help you create a vivid paragraph.
Chapter nine in "Lord of the flies" has a tragic ending this is because there is another death. The first death was the kid with the mulberry birthmark , this happened closer to the beginning of the book. Now there is another death but this time its the character Simon. Simon was beat to death by all of the the kids on the island. To me honest they didn't know it was him they thought it was the beast but they didn't care to look if it really was the beast. They were all caught up in the chanting that they were doing. This was part of there "ritual" to celebrate when some thing good happened. But the good things always have consequences like this problem.
In life people create groups. These groups might be at school, in sports, in extracurricular activities, and through religious organizations. Explain what needs groups fill for people. Explain both the positive and negative aspects of being part of a group. You may relate this to our novel, or you may make it a person reflection of your own experience.
To be in a group you have to constantly talk to them and interact with them. When you are accepted in a group that you and the people in that group have some similarities. Some of the similarities might be that you like the same color, food, sport and other things such as that. The god things about having a friend is that you can cry on their shoulder when you're sad or that you can talk to them when you are in trouble. The other good or positive thing about having a friend is that you could hang out with them. The negative thing about having friends is that if they get mad at you or you get mad at you get mad at them, they might tell some of your secrets to other people. The other immoral thing about having friends is that they may turn their backs on you for a foolish reason that you were not capable of doing.
“Which is better - to have rules and agree, or to hunt and kill? "Using this quote, take a stand. Pick a side and explain why your decision is best on this island here at the end of Chapter 11. Don’t forget to use textual evidence to support your answer.
I would choose to have rules and agree rather than hunt and kill. AS\s we know in the story that the conch symbolizes law and order so when the conch shattered then they lost the law and order so its different without them. When they didn't have the conch then they started to act crazy but when the conch was there they had rules, which helped. Its better to have rules because people don't get hurt and not be as much problems. The good thing about having rules is that everyone has a job and everything goes together but when you don't then people start to get hurt and other things happen
we figured it our but it was one big mystery
Simon is the "beast "that the others see
I think that this is the most important quote in the book because it is not mentioned in the book multiple times but it is spoken once. The one time it was spoken it spoke out more than any because Simon only knew it was him. Also it was only Simon but then when he tried to tell them, they accidentally killed him and never figured out. I chose this quote because i think that it only stood out to me. I think that i am the only one who got thinking of what would happened if they knew. I wonder if they would have had the book ending different than they did if they knew about it. Maybe there is a beast maybe its only us. That quotes raises a whole bunch of questions. The picture represents the anoymity that Simon has in him.
I think that this novel is really good. When you look at the book you might think that ooh its going to be a very boring book but when you start reading then you notice that it has some eyebrow raising included. The quote " Don't judge a book by its cover." is used in this novel. I enjoyed letting Mrs. Lyda reading the book because she adds enthusiasm and you want her to read more. I liked that we could create a blog and for us to see it in our perspective other that a sheet of paper. When i worked on the computer it let me feel like i was in control of something. When i red the book i thought of how its going to be like a harry potter book and be very old but was entertaining, so it was good.
