The Longleaf Tee System

Our newest initiative is the creation and promotion of the Longleaf Tee System — a unique and important data-based method to scale golf courses, making them more fair and more fun for every player.

U.S. Kids Golf Foundation has partnered with the American Society of Golf Course Architects Foundation to present this idea to the golf industry. U.S Kids Golf President Dan Van Horn and famed course designer Rees Jones recently joined the set of Golf Channel’s Morning Drive to discuss the Longleaf Tee System and its importance to growing the game.

Learn more about the how you can adopt the Longleaf Tee System at your course by visiting the U.S. Kids Golf booth (#1729)

As a member of the U.S. Kids Golf Coaches Institute, you are also a member of the President’s Club at Longleaf Golf & Family Club, in historic Southern Pines, NC. Longleaf, as it is affectionately called, is home to one of the most innovative and forward-thinking golf properties in America.

Owned and operated by the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation, this par 72 championship layout has made quite a splash with its implementation of a scientific scaling method for seven sets of tees (hence, the Longleaf Tee System), its creation of the highly lauded six hole Bottlebrush short course and as home of the first U.S. Kids Golf Academy. In 2017, continued improvements at Longleaf include a new restaurant as part of clubhouse renovations, new championship greens and a new Academy building.

Since 2004, the Top 50 Kids Teachers Award has honored outstanding professionals who have dedicated their careers to developing junior golf in their communities. These teachers have committed themselves to helping kids develop a love for the game of golf that extends well into their future. U.S. Kids Golf is proud to celebrate those who encourage and inspire young golfers.

Please join us for the Top 50 Kids Teachers and Top 50 Master Kids Teachers Awards Presentation at 5pm on Thursday, January 26th, at the PGA Forum Stage.
