Tathra Public School newsletter Term 4 week 8

There is always a lot to celebrate as we near the end of the year. This week students have been involved in a range of wonderful activities celebrating learning and positive behaviour.

Farewell Janelle

We said an early farewell to Year 6 student Janelle Bataan-Groves yesterday as she has to travel to visit family in the Philippines before heading to Bega High next year. Her classmates threw her a little surprise party! Janelle is lovely girl and has been a model student at Tathra PS. We wish her all the very best in high school.

Tathra PS Fun Day

On Tuesday we celebrated the school-wide positive behaviour and our three values of Respect, Responsibility and Kindness. Students and staff had a ball! It is always nice to deviate from the regular curriculum occasionally!

Volunteer and Grandparents Morning Tea

If you’ve volunteered at school this year we invite you to a morning tea to celebrate International Volunteers Day on Monday 5 December at 11:15am in our school hall. The staff will cook up a storm for you. We also invite Grandparents to come along on this day too and visit classrooms and perhaps talk about their lives at school back in the day! I know there weren’t too many “fun days”.

Year 5 Fishing morning

On Monday Year 5 joined with members of the Tathra Lions, Mr Pat Campbell and Mr Malcolm Ramsey to learn about beach fishing! We are so lucky to have a school situated where we can just walk down to the beach to have an outside lesson like this and to be able to call on our older community members to assist!

End of Term assembly and Farewelling Year 6

Our end of Term assembly will be celebrated on Monday Dec at 12 noon. We invite as many parents to come along as possible. Year 6 graduation night is Wednesday 14 December where Year 6 parents and Year 5 students and their parents are also invited to attend to support and farewell the outgoing Year 6. The Year 6 dinner and disco is the following night. Year 5 organise the disco and farewell cake.

Last day of school

At the end of the term each stage participates in an end of term class party. Infants children will be travelling to Merimbula to see a movie and have lunch and a play at Spenser Park. Stage 2 will go to the Bega pool for fun and games and Stage 3 will go to Magic Mountain. Notes about these events will come home shortly.

Wharf to Waves Event

Thank you to the TPS community for their participation in providing volunteers for 2016 Wharf2Waves event. Adam Leafe and Catherine Mortimer coordinated the beach BBQ in 2016 and will continue into 2017. We are looking for 8 BBQ volunteers 8am to 11am and 8 BBQ volunteers 11am to 2pm. Last year this important community event distributed $18,000 in funding raising between Tathra Surf Club, Tathra Preschool,

Tathra Primary School and Rural Fire Fighting Services and has many flow on benefits for our local business and the general community. Could you include Adam and my contact details for people to express interest in volunteering.
