The boys varsity soccer team beat Spring Lake 2-0 in their game on Sept. 10. Senior Jaden King, captain of the team, runs to the corner of the field to celebrate with some of his teammates after scoring the first goal. "The student section was being super loud, super hype and supportive throughout the whole game and that was a really good motivator for me and the team as well," King said. "It was a big step up from first half to second half because everyone was involved and super positive. The intensity, energy and overall drive to win was increased."
Senior Zachary Falconer scored the second goal to secure the win for the Bucs. Falconer ran down the line as senior Gavin Jonker played the ball in. As the goalie fumbled with it, Falconer followed through and finished. “It felt so good just because I mean it’s a goal but it was against Spring Lake so it just made it that much better,” Falconer said.
The student section, although brutal toward Spring Lake, remained resilient through the thunderstorm delay. “I think we were really nervous during the first half, no one scored and we all wanted to win because Spring Lake is a big rival,” senior Ellary Bylsma said. “During the second half after we scored, we all got super excited and it was really fun to be a part of.”
