Save The penguins by Laylah M. Nicole S. and Kevin C.

I. Introduction

thesis: Out of all the data we collected our group has concluded that we should save the African Penguin over the Andean Bear and the Boa Snake.

main reason #1: Cheapest to save out of the three.

main reason #2: fertilize the ground

main reason#3: There's more research on the penguin than the other animals

II. counterclaim

animal not being saved: Andean Bear and the Boa Snake

reason why (constraints): not enough research on the Andean bear because it is very shy around people . If one species of Boa disappears, others would take its place.

III. ecological Functions

A. Introduction: the ecological function of the African penguin is that fertile the ground they live on and they keep the fish population down.

B. Evidence #1:

1. Analysis of evidence A: without the penguins fertilizing the ground, all the plants would die.

2. analysis of evidence B: without the penguins eating the fish, the fish population would go out of control.

D. Conclusion:

The African penguin help keep the ecosystem balance.

Rhetorical appeals/strategies: logos is used

the penguin came right to the glass

IV: Additional biological, medical, social, etc., appeals

A. Introduction (topic sentence): Scientist have more research done on the African Penguins than the Andean Bear and there is many different types of Boa Snakes that if one goes exciting, there would be another to take its place.

b. Evidence A: there is more research

1. Analysis of evidence A: Scientist study the African Penguins a lot more than any other penguins in the world because it is easier to transport people to African, then to transport people to Antarctica.

2. analysis of evidence B: The Andean bear is very shy around people so scientist can't get close enough to get a lot of information about their life.

C. evidence #2: many different types of boa

1. analysis of evidence A: Since there are many different types of Boa snake, that if the Boa snake were to go extinct in the future, another relative of the boa would be able to take its place in the ecosystem.

2. analysis of evidence B: If the African penguin were go to extinct in the future, there would be no other animal to take its place. All of the plants would die off if the African penguin would go away.

D. conclusion:

we are saving the African Penguin because its more beneficial

Rhetorical appeals/strategies: logos

The penguin is swimming

V. Cost to conserve/resources required by the species

A. introduction (topic sentence): We are saving the African Penguin because it would be cheaper to save over the Andean Bear

b. evidence #1: African Penguin doesn’t need a lot in its enclosure.

1. analysis of evidence A: Andean bear needs trees, shade, leaves, a cave, a place to hid, and toys.

2. analysis of evidence B: The African penguin needs water, rocks, and shade.

C. evidence #2: food cost less

1. analysis of evidence A: Andean bear eats biscuits, apples, carrots, grapes, yams, bananas, oranges, and lettuce.

2. analysis of evidence B: African penguin eats anchovies, sardines, and fish.

D. conclusion:

it cost less

Rhetorical appeals/strategies:

VI. Conclusion

A. re-stated main thesis: We are saving the African penguin because through all the data we collected, the penguin is the most logical to save.

B. recites of key points: cost, info., helps humans

c. call to action: If you want to help save these adorable little penguins, you can donate to the Wildlife Conservancy ( http://endextinction.org/penguins )
