Cougar Connection October 23rd, 2020

Congratulations to the following staff members who have received staff Cougar Leaders at Work nominations from their peers this week!:

  • Mrs. Ferson - Nominated for her perseverance and positivity!
  • Mrs. Fannin - Nominated for her dedication to students!

report cards

Quarter one report cards are now available for viewing in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Please take some time to speak with your child about their progress. If you have questions, please reach out to your child's teachers. Since our Related Arts classes are on a 12 week rotation this year, the current Related Arts rotation does not end until Friday, November 6th. You will not see final grades posted for those classes on the Quarter one report card yet. The final grades for the first rotation will be reflected on the Quarter two report cards.

Fall nwea assessment scores

Along with seeing report cards in PowerSchool, you will be able to see the fall NWEA scores in the Parent Portal as well!

Cougar spirit day and hat day

Our next Cougar Spirit Day will be Friday, October 30th. Please encourage your student to show their Cougar Pride by wearing their GC attire to school that day! Additionally, students can pay $1.00 and wear their favorite hat to school this same day (no Halloween costume attire please). All proceeds will go to the United Way!

picture retake day

Picture retakes will be held Wednesday, November 4th. You can still order on www.mylifetouch.com with the code: EVTBZKJRZ. Virtual students, as a reminder, school pictures will take place this same day after school hours here at GIS. Please contact Mr. Davis for those details.

We have a small supply of 2019-2020 yearbooks available for sale in our office. If you would like to purchase one, you may make a check out to Greenfield Intermediate School for $18.00. These are available on a first come, first served basis.

Mckinney-vento survey

Greenfield-Central is required under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act 42 U.S.C. 114735 to regularly gather information that can help determine students who may need assistance. All G-C families are requested to complete the short survey found at the link below regardless of residency status. The information provided in this survey will only be used to determine students who may need assistance based on their current housing status. See information at the end of the survey for a description of the rights of homeless students.

Click HERE to access the Greenfield-Central Mckinney-Vento survey.

We appreciate your time in completing the survey. Please contact Jim Bever, Greenfield-Central's McKinney-Vento Liasion, with any questions or concerns. He may be reached at jbever@gcsc.k12.in.us.

Christmas assistance applications will be available at the GIS front office beginning Monday, October 26th. Applications are due back by Friday, November 13th.

(reminder) Parent/Teacher conferences

Cougar Code

At Greenfield Intermediate School, our students follow our “Cougar Code.” You can help by reinforcing these at home with your student! The daily expectations at GIS are simple:

  1. Be Respectful
  2. Be Responsible
  3. Be Ready to Learn

Profile of a graduate

It’s never too early to start preparing for graduation! Greenfield-Central has identified characteristics we would love to see in all our students by the time they graduate from high school. We call the collection of these characteristics the “Profile of a Graduate.” I’ve attached a digital copy of this document for you to look at throughout the school year. Each month, GIS will be focusing on one of these characteristics.
