Dandelion

By- The Rolling Stones

Prince or pauper, beggar man or thing

Play the game with every flower you bring

Dandelion don't tell no lies

Dandelion will make you wise

Tell me if she laughs or cries

Blow away, dandelion

One o'clock, two o'clock, three o'clock, four o'clock chimes

Dandelions don't care about the time

Dandelion don't tell no lies

Dandelion will make you wise

Tell me if she laughs or cries

Blow away, dandelion

Blow away, dandelion

Tho' you're older now, it's just the same

You can play the dandelion game

When you're finished with your childlike prayers

Well, you know you should wear it

Tinker, tailor, soldier, sailors lives

Rich man, poor man, beautiful, daughters, wives

Dandelion don't tell no lies

Dandelion will make you wise

Tell me if she laughs or cries

Blow away, dandelion

Blow away, dandelion

Little girls and boys come out to play

Bring your dandelions to blow away

Dandelion don't tell no lies

Dandelion will make you wise

Tell me if she laughs or cries

Blow away, dandelion

Blow away, dandelion

** The personification use in this song shows how you should trust a dandelion by saying that dandelions won't lie to you and how they will make you wise, but in reality dandelions can't talk at all, nevertheless be wise or tell a lie or not.

** The metaphor use in this song is comparing a trustworthy person to a dandelion, without using like or as. The song says how "Dandelions don't lie" and "Dandelions make you wise".Compared to a person that may have those same qualities.

Firework

By- Katy Perry

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag

Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?

Do you ever feel, feel so paper-thin

Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel already buried deep?

Six feet under screams, but no one seems to hear a thing

Do you know that there's still a chance for you?

'Cause there's a spark in you

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine

Just own the night like the Fourth of July

'Cause baby, you're a firework

Come on, show 'em what you're worth

Make 'em go "Ah, ah, ah!"

As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework

Come on, let your colors burst

Make 'em go "Ah, ah, ah!"

You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

You don't have to feel like a waste of space

You're original, cannot be replaced

If you only knew what the future holds

After a hurricane, comes a rainbow

Maybe the reason why all the doors are closed

So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road

Like a lightning bolt, your heart will glow

And when it's time you know

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine

Just own the night like the Fourth of July

'Cause baby, you're a firework

Come on, show 'em what you're worth

Make 'em go "Ah, ah, ah!"

As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework

Come on, let your colors burst

Make 'em go "Ah, ah, ah!"

You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom

Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

It's always been inside of you, you, you

And now it's time to let it through

'Cause baby, you're a firework

Come on, show 'em what you're worth

Make 'em go "Ah, ah, ah!"

As you shoot across the sky-y-y

Baby, you're a firework

Come on, let your colors burst

Make 'em go "Ah, ah, ah!"

You're gonna leave 'em all in awe, awe, awe

Boom, boom, boom

Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

Boom, boom, boom

Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

** The simile use in this song shows how useless you feel and how close you are to just breaking down and giving in. The other use of similes shows how you should own the night and shine bright. The imagery is being a firework.

** The onomatopoeia use in this song shows the sound you make when you're being like a firework.

School fight

By-Unknown author

You can’t hear a pin drop

As all the kids gather around;

They are vultures

Waiting for the corpse

Of the one who loses.

The tall kid…

He swings his fist with his hurricane force.

A torrential spray of blood

Explodes from the smaller boy’s nose

And covers the tiled floor.

The vultures fly away

As the teachers quickly approach.

**The hyperbole use in the poem describes what happened during the fight.

**The metaphor use in the poem shows how they acted when the fight happened. The author compared the kids to vultures, a large bird pack.

School Lockdown

By- Keara Reeves

Some are in classrooms safe and sound

Some are running around

Trying to find a place to hide

It's like the whole school floods into the stairwell

People's voice screaming,

They're like frightened vultures.

People shove toward the exit

Trying to escape

Like fish in a bucket,

That's what we are

This time it's not a drill,

But everyone prays to God

They make it out of this hell

** The simile use in this poem shows what the students are like during the lock down. I compared the students to frightened vultures.

** The metaphor use in this poem shows how crowded it is during the lock down. I compared the students and fish in a bucket
