Lower School Library & Design Lab Newsletter April/May 2018

Prekindergarten students studied letters R-U by checking out books featuring each letter.

everyone is an artist

Students in Kindergarten and First grade read the books, The Dot and Ish by Peter H. Reynolds. Both stories teach children that everyone is an artist, that even something as simple as a dot is art, and there is no wrong way to create. The students then drew their own artistic dots.

Little Chefs

Second Grade students created their own fruity ice-pops in the Design Lab. They learned the nutritional benefits of each fruit ingredient and used their knowledge of fractions to create the perfect ice-pop recipe.

Third grade students made their own light-up LED scarab beetles in the Design Lab. They learned how electric circuits work and sewed on LED lights using conductive thread.
