Being Eva By Marc Cazarez & Bianca Sanchez

Eva is a student whose positivity is seen amongst all the student body and staff. In addition to her academic dedication, she takes the time to help out around the campus by picking up trash and recycling.

“One day I was taken up to the altar and one of the pastors had told me, ‘Hey, you are alight. You're going to be a light in this world. And I can see a trail of flickering lights,’” said freshman Eva Reyna.

Her hard work and accentuated demeanor light others up everywhere she goes. The transition from Middle to High School brought many challenges her way, but regardless of the issues that come, she always prioritizes keeping a positive mindset. When her light is dim, she always views the brighter side.

In Ms. Mondragon’s Spanish class, Eva collaborates with her peers as they translate different pictures into Spanish phrases.
During advisory, Eva expresses her love for art and drawing on a paper plate for the class activity. “I don't even think about it as a hobby anymore. It's just something I do,” Eva explains.
Mr. Jackson, Da Vinci’s 9th grade English teacher, talks about an assignment while Eva gladly follows along on her paper.
Friday, January 17th, Eva colors while attentively listening to the sounds of conversation and music throughout the room. Though she looks very serious, Eva happily conversed with her peers throughout the class period.
Eva expresses that she takes much pride in her shoes when picking out outfits for school. By wearing different types of shoes, she can express herself more creatively.
After a long night of doing homework, Eva diligently works on her English assignment hoping to get it done. “What’s wrong Eva,” her fellow classmate asks. “I’m just tired,” she replies.
