The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality is lead by Dr. Sharon Arnold and was established on December 6, 1999. It was established to enhance the quality, appropriateness, and effectiveness of health care services and access to care by conducting and supporting research, demonstration projects, and evaluations; developing guidelines; and disseminating information on health care services and delivery systems.
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality's (AHRQ) mission is to produce evidence to make health care safer, higher quality, more accessible, equitable, and affordable, and to work within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and with other partners to make sure that the evidence is understood and used. AHRQ priorities are described. Currently the AHRQ is investing their time and resources in the safety and children in hospital care.
