About GERMIN
Germin is a non-governmental organization that leverages Diaspora skills, knowledge and networks to help advance the development and diplomacy of Western Balkan countries. We strive to explore and bring ICT channels and tools to better facilitate and strengthen linkages between diaspora, citizens, and governments.
We are registered in Prishtina, and have placement also in Tirana, Washington D.C., London, Zurich, Vienna, Paris, and Oslo.
PROJECT ACTIVITIES
The organization has founded and managed the Kosovodiaspora.org (KD) portal, a crowdsourcing digital engagement and diplomacy platform that connect Kosovars abroad and leverages their networks and skills to contribute to the home country. KD has an outreach in over 172 countries, with over a million website viewers, and around 15,000 social media followers.
Germin organized the #KosovoEverywhere campaign, whereby Diaspora members took up on the challenge to become ambassadors of Kosovo's independence, and displayed Kosovo symbols in more than 50 countries around the world. Diaspora members help place Kosovo in the map for their friends and the communities where they live.
Germin implemented the Diaspora Registration promotion project in partnership with the Ministry of Diaspora, the United Nations Development Programme, and International Organization on Migration.
Germin organized Google Hangout - virtual diaspora meetings bringing together Albania and Kosovo's public institutions, diaspora community representatives, and civil society experts in effort of coordinating institutional and civic diaspora activities.
Our Team
Germin is run by a group of Diaspora professionals ranging from the field of public policy, finance, information and technology, law and education, security and defense. Germin has a network of 33 professionals and part-time collaborators, currently living in 12 countries including the Balkans, Western Europe, and North America.
