Using the Interactive Read Aloud of Roald Dahl’s novel”Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, students are modeled and later apply focus CAFE Strategies. For example, students learned how to “be a voracious reader”(reading with expression) and “visualize” (making a mind movie based on the text). Additionally, students are learning to “track” multiple characters (main and supporting) within a novel and focus on understanding the physical and emotional character traits of the main characters.
