Mother Teresa By: Carson Horn

Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, Macedonia Aug. 26th, 1910. Her parents Nikola and Dranafile Bojaxhiu, her father, was a construction contractor and traded medicines. Sadly Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997, Calcutta, India.

As a child Mother Teresa sang at her local church every Sunday. She loved being apart of a loving atmosphere. Sadly, at the age of eight her father fell ill and died. As a result she became very attached to her mother.

Mother Teresa Attended a convent-run primary school as a child. As she got to be in high school she attended a state-run secondary school.

After she finished her years of schooling she joined the Sisters of Loreto in Dublin. There she took the name mother Teresa. Over the years Mother Teresa never married or had any children.

Mother Teresa felt her calling to become a missionary through serving the poor. She later arrived in India and there began working as a teacher. Not long after that she started an order called "The missionaries of Charity". Then in 1948 she left home to live among the poor. Later she began expanding " The Missionaries of Charity" and opened houses in Australia, Middle east, North America, and London.

In 1952 Mother Teresa opened the first home for the dying. Later in 1957 she opened an orphanage in India for children.

Mother Teresa led the way for missionary work all around the globe.
