As part of his commitment to improve at-risk youth literacy in Duval County, Florida, Julius Thomas hosted his second unveiling of a reading nook at the local Episcopal Children’s Service Centers in December.
Through donation matching and reading challenge programs during the course of the season, the Jacksonville Jaguars Pro Bowl tight end generated over 15,000 book donations, 1,000 hours of books read and two brand new reading nooks in Duval County.
“The reason I give back to the community is because I am a product of the community,” said Thomas, who plans to keep expanding his Read To Achieve initiative. “I know the difference an individual can have on someone’s life. And I want to be that difference.”
