National Pizza Day July 2

Pizza is the most popular food in the United States, and 94% of Americans eat pizza regularly. Don't you think it should have its very own day? On July 2, all pizza orders will be 50% off, or any other deals or specials, at participating places. Pizza lovers can compete nationally who can eat the most pizza on that day. Just don't be afraid to get your fingers greasy.

The average American consumes about 46 pieces of pizza a year. In the last month, at least 93% of Americans have eaten pizza. It has been calculated that everyday, Americans eat a total of 100 acres of pizza.

The word pizza originated from the latin root word Picea, the blackening of crust by fire. The first pizzeria is thought to be Antica Pizzeria Port'Alba in Naples.
