The Taklimakan Desert Extands 600 miles from west to east, the width is 260miles. It is 1,200 to 1,500 meters above the sea level. The sand from the surface, and is under 1,00 feet thick . Groundwater is no deeper than 10 to 15 feet.
WIn Mongolian, gobi means " water less place". It stretches across both China and Mongolia. It's impossible to drive land vehicles in any direction because of its dotted hills.
