NBMS GT PARENT SHOWCASE scheduled

April 23 from 4-6 pm

NBMS Library & Cafeteria

6th Grade "Toxic Waste" Activity

In 6th Grade GT, students have really been focusing on Communication and Team Building. In this "Toxic Waste" activity students had to move the "toxic waste" (tennis ball) from one location to the next without spilling. They really had to use communication skills with their peers to accomplish this task. At times there were "too many bosses and not enough workers," but eventually they problem solved and listened to one another. This is a huge task for our 6th graders as they are not used to working with all of these new students from other elementary schools. (Submitted by Karen Dudley)

7th grade GT working on iStation to improve reading skills. This is one of the non-GT activities during advisory that benefits all our kiddos.
Please enjoy the following Blue Santa commercial presented by Autumn Covington & Carissa Leal. Great job, ladies!
For Halloween, students created string art by dropping a piece of string onto a sheet of paper. After analyzing the lay of the string, they then drew a Halloween scene incorporating it.
For Thanksgiving, students created personalized hand turkeys. The traits displayed will play a larger role in future group activities, culminating in their final showcase project.

Mid-Year GT Evaluations will be going home with students in January. Please take time to discuss the evaluation with your student and to share your feedback with us. We are always striving to improve our GT program.

Don't forget to add these GT field trip dates to your calendar.

NBMS GT Newsletters are shared on a bi-monthly basis. Please contact Kacy Zaleski @ kzaleski@nbisd.org if you would like to be added to the mailing list.
