In chapter 9, Cameron has to see Abby a drug counselor. He describes her office as bland. Abby tries to get him to talk about his drug use but Cameron has only smoked weed and feels that this should not be causing his hallucinations.
Abby refers Cameron to Dr. Klein, a psychiatrist with another bland office. In Dr. Klein's office Cameron struggles with the ergo chairs as if it were a lowrider with hydraulics.
Abby tells Cameron to stay off drugs and Dr. Klein prescribes him drugs. Cameron is just glad he still has weed.
Chapter 10 Overview - Cameron is not sleeping and the anti-crazy drugs from Dr. Klein are making his insomnia worse.
Cameron is left home alone so he gets high and goes for a bike ride. Freedom! He stops to see his friend Eubie. This conversation revolves around music and the twos interest in Jazz. Cameron rides on but decides to go on old country roads instead of the streets. It starts to rain but Cameron is enjoying the rain.
The clouds become darker and Cameron gets scared he is going to be in a tornado. A tree catches on fire from lightning but Cameron begins to see fire giants instead of flames. He sees a big dude in black armour with a sword. He is in a panic but keeps riding but when he looks back the fire giants and the big dude are gone.
Cameron gets home to look up hallucinations on his computer and then see more strange stuff. He see the feather again but this time it's on his computer. The feather link www. Followthefeather.com takes him to a strange video were an Asian man is talking about the 11 dimensions and the Copenhagen Interpretation continually plays.
Camerons alarm goes off and it seems like it is all a bad dream until the toaster catches fire. When the toaster goes up in flames he sees the fire giants again falls to the floor screaming.
In Chapter 11, Cameron is in a MRI machine. He has been to see three doctors in four days.
Cameron’s mom and dad are concerned and they are treating him differently. His dad calls him ‘buddy’ and wants to make a fire to roast marshmallows even though it is warm outside.
Cameron’s dad tell him he is going to see a specialist in Dallas. His mom suggest they eat Sancho’s after the doctor.
The doctor explains to Cameron that he has Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease or Mad Cow disease. This causes bad proteins to take over the brain. His brain is being destroyed. Cameron doesn’t know what to say to this news.
