Each member company is invited to nominate a point of contact (Senior Advisor) to join the Senior Advisory Group for the Alliance of CEO Climate Leaders and represent the CEO’s engagement in the Climate Initiatives.
The Senior Advisors are managed by the World Economic Forum. The Climate Initiatives team facilitates and organizes regular planning and coordination activities for the group that are discussed on monthly group calls. Communication with the group also takes place via emails, bilateral catch up calls with Senior Advisors, and a private digital engagement space on TopLink. A project specialist is asigned to manage the community of CEOs and their Senior Advisor.
Who is in the Senior Advisory group?
The Senior Advisory Group is composed of representatives from the Alliance member companies - they are senior executives, usually sustainability or stakeholder engagement experts. Senior Advisors can be a new point of contact, and not the Forum operational contact for the company, but good interaction and coordination of the Senior Advisor with the CEOs office is essential.
What is the objective of the group?
The objective is to ensure the ongoing engagement of their company and CEO in the climate change agenda and activities taken forward by the Alliance. With support from the Climate Initiatives team, the group works towards building a common understanding for climate action and setting priorities for business actions and initiatives that can deliver impact and support the implementation of the Paris Agreement and business ambition for 1.5°C.
Senior Advisors ensure that relevant contacts in their company are aware and responsive to any matters relating to their CEOs’ engagement with the Alliance. They may also wish to lead or join specific working groups that will and become Champions.
How often does the group meet?
The group meets in person twice per year (Spring in Geneva and Autumn in New York) during face-to-face meetings hosted by the World Economic Forum and organized by the Climate Initiatives team. Additional informal gatherings and bilateral meetings may also be organized during the year around main climate events such as the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP), Climate Week, etc.
