Pizza on the Farm

How do you like your pizza? If you like it with friends, family laughter and rustic Iowa charm then Pizza on the Farm is for you. This week our "Picture of the Week" takes us to a scenic farm near of Wellman where for the past six years Julia McNurlen has been hosting the pizza-rich event that connects Iowans to their farming roots.

"This was my grandmother's house, and it has incredible views of the countryside," McNurlen said while fixing pizza for visitors. "I wanted to share the view and offer a unique event. When you come, you have to watch your step (Parking is in a pasture dotted with cowpies), but that is part of the fun."

Regardless of your favorite pizza topping U.S. farmers had a hand in delivering it to you. In Iowa ingredients like sausage, hamburger, pepperoni and cheese are all grown on family farms across the state. Add vegetables and sauce and you have yourself one of America's favorite foods.

The event is held every Friday from May to October excluding June 9th and September 15th. The cost is $12 for adults and includes an all you can eat pizza buffet.
