From the Principal
This week at Hillendale was filled with excitement and thankfulness. On Wednesday, Hillendale celebrated Paraprofessional Appreciation Day. Our paraprofessionals and PCAs at Hillendale fill a number of roles. From supporting students and teachers in the classroom to helping kids navigate the school day, we could not make it through a day without the hard work of our wonderful support staff.
This past Friday was especially fun as we held a school spirit day capped off by the 5th grade vs. Staff basketball game. The gym was filled with red and yellow as the 5th graders defeated the staff 52-50 in an instant classic! Congratulations to our 5th graders on their victory and, more importantly, for showing terrific teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the game. Also, congratulations to Mrs. Dougherty’s class for being voted as the homeroom class that showed the most school spirit! Also, thank you to Mr. Claypoole for the photos and videos from the event!
PSSAs are coming soon for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. The schedule for PSSAs is as follows.
- ELA - April 23, 24, and 26
- Math - April 29, 30
- Science - May 1, 2 (4th grade only)
Have a great week!
Committed to Growth
This April, we are celebrating National Autism Awareness Month at Hillendale. The celebration was kicked off with Autism Awareness Day on April 2nd, which included decorating the hallways of our school and a special “Husky Cafe” outside Mrs. Lind’s classroom run by students in our Autistic Support program. This month, everyone at Hillendale will have an opportunity to participate in our Autism Awareness festivities as a way of celebrating inclusion and promoting the importance of accepting each other’s differences in our community.
