November 2018 Edition
Cheers, laughter and tears filled the Grand Ballrooms on campus as some of the Tallant's closest friends and supporters gathered to celebrate an era. Guest speakers from accross the state of Texas shared Tallant-filled stories of inspiration, humor, and appreciation. Bishop Michael Mulvey shared, "One of the things I love most about Steve Tallant is he allowed us to dream and we dreamed big."
Speakers included Mayor Sam Fugate, Joe Henkel, Jean Claire Turcotte, Chairman Charles W. Schwartz, Chancellor John Sharp, Tarleton State President Dominic Dottavio, LTG (Ret.) Ricardo Sanchez, Robert J. Underbrink, Gloria Hicks, Dr. Nick Adame and Stephen J. "Tio" Kleberg. Abby Lozano also presented Dr. Tallant with a Resolution from the Texas House of Representatives on behalf of Representative J. M. Lozano.
Closing out the evening Dr. Tallant shared an emotional message stating. "I will always remember the things we accomplished here together, but what I'll remember most is how we did it and why we did it - for the students of South Texas." We will miss Dr. and Mrs. Tallant's presence on campus and in the community, but we know they will always be Javelinas.
