National Dessert Day Fun By Jamison Davis

In honor of National Dessert Day this past Monday, October 14, I decided to share some of my favorite places to get dessert! These aren't the basic chocolate chip cookies either: these are the real deal, creative goodies. Get ready to have your mind blown.

1. BJ's Brewhouse. If you didn't know, BJ's has these desserts called Pizookies. They're essentially a cookie baked into an individual pan, then topped with ice cream and various toppings. They come in all different flavors, such as Cookies and Cream, Salted Caramel Macadamia Nut, and Fruity Pebbles, my new favorite. The cookie is so perfectly baked, and the way the ice cream melts over it? Absolute perfection. It's my guilty pleasure, especially on Tuesdays, where all flavors are only five dollars! Don't say I didn't put you on.

2. Rooster's. Listen, hear me out here. Rooster's has this dessert called Cinnamon Poppers. They're pretty much what they sound like: bite sized pieces of cinnamon sugar dough, served with cream cheese icing to dip them in. They're little bites of heaven, I'm not even going to lie to you. You might have to search their menu a little to find them, but once you do, I promise that they're worth it.

3. Shake Shack. Started in New York, this burgers and fries chain restaurant has opened two locations right here in Columbus: one in Easton and one in the Short North. I love everything about this restaurant, but I have a special affection for something that's even in the title: their shakes! Each restaurant location has a different combination of shake and frozen custard flavors, but they are all decadent, thick, and plain delicious.

We all need to be able to treat ourselves to a sweet little something every once in a while. Truly, I believe National Dessert Day is almost everyday, but it's a good excuse to grab that extra cupcake you've had your eye on for a week. I hope that I gave some new places to try, and happy eating!!
