AdobeProud India Network presents Theatre with a difference 4 locations, 200 participants, May 17th - One Event, One step towards LGBT+ inclusion.

May 17th is observed globally as International day against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. The AdobeProud India Network celebrated sexual and gender diversity by creating mass awareness and sensitization about LGBT+ inclusion at the workplace using a cool new medium – Theatre!

This is probably a first at Adobe, where professional actors played out typical workplace scenarios that highlighted stereotypes and biases associated with the LGBT+ community and allies. This interactive theatre sparked some strong reactions, awareness and great dialogue with 200+ employees across 4 locations in Bangalore and Noida offices! The audience was encouraged to engage with the actors, challenge their actions, suggest alternate ways to handle the situations they enacted and even debate what’s the appropriate way to respond. It instantly opened up a conversation around a topic that can otherwise be awkward, especially for the uninitiated.

Communications and Branding

The week long communication and branding efforts consisted of a registration mailer, physical and digital signages, AdobeProud merchandize and safe zone stickers as takeaways for employees.

For any initiative like this, it’s important to have leadership endorsement – we had senior leaders at each venue set the context for why this was an important topic and an important step towards a more inclusive Adobe, true to #AdobeForAll.

We have just started!

As a closing, we encouraged attendees to stop by the AdobeProud booth and talk to members about what it means to be an ally, how they can get involved and provide feedback about the event.

We had 60+ new members sign up bringing the AdobeProud membership to 115 in the 3 months since launch!

Great initiative by AdobeProud Network. We need to have such conversations regularly.
Really great way to show us the mirror as how we might actually be hurting others feelings and sentiments. Very interactive and nicely put.
Wonderful session and much needed to break the stigma in the society. Great start!

Thanks to Adobe India leadership team, Site council members, AdobeProud India Network members, GWS and IT support teams and Steps Drama, our theatre partner, for helping us take this step forward in making Adobe an #AdobeForAll workplace.
