Trench Tool

(An Entrenching Tool Head and Helve)

The trench digging tool helps provide protection against lethal weaponry. It took simple ditches and made them into network of trenches. This made trenches stretch over 250 miles("10 Things") .

Steel Helmet

(A First World War 'Brodie' Steel Helmet)

A soldiers most vulnerable area was the head. The steel helmet improved the protection from shrapnels and other projectiles falling from the air. It reduced head injuries by 75 percent("10 Things").

Camouflage

(A British Army 'protective' (camouflage) Suit)

Made it harder for artillery that shot long distance to see people. Some suit were specially made for people to blend in that were on patrol (Like the pic above). Its color was meant to blend in to the colors of no mans land("10 Things").

Gas mask

(British Army Gas Helmet Known as the 'PH Helmet' or 'tube Helmet')

The gas mask protected the soldiers of WWI of chemical gases released. The mask was pretty uncomfortable to wear. It was also really hard to breath out of("10 Things").

Mosquito Nets

(First World War Period Mosquito Net Issued to British Troops)

During WWI there were a lot of deaths from diseases. The nets helped protect the soldiers from getting diseases from mosquitos and other insects that could spread diseases. The mosquito net didn't help during WWI as much as other wars("10 Things").
