July 13th 2019 - HAZEFEST 6!

HAZEFEST returns this July, promising another remarkable festival experience (on Hayes School's Gadsden Lawn!) With music of course at the heart of the event - featuring a wealth of talent from current and former Hayes students, staff and friends - and 5 years of experience staging this event, Hayes PTA and Hayes School Productions are once again curating a day that has something for everyone; all ages, all tastes!

On the Sinclair Hammelton Stage 2019

Van Susans

Returning for their third headline slot on the Hazefest Mainstage are the mighty Van Susans. With their second album imminent and a host of new songs since their last appearance here in 2016, the Vans are guaranteed to thrill one and all with their passionate, full throttle folk-rock, and will no doubt end Hazefest 6 with a (cha-cha) bang! Fronted as ever by Olly Andrews (Hayes Alumni 2007) and Ed Dullaway, 2019 has already been a big year for the band, with a couple of highly impressive single releases, and we are so pleased to have our original headliners back once more.

Check out the video for Van Susans' recent single "Crossroads" below!

Victorious River Band

The Victorious River Band are Kent’s finest raggle-taggle covers band, bringing a bit of banjo, fiddle and sax to the standard set up of guitars, bass and drums. Featuring our very own Director of Music, the inimitable Miss Werry on vocals and former Hayes music maestro Mr Hurst on Bass, this lot are guaranteed to put on a show. Their unique style and sheer love of entertaining is guaranteed to open your eyes to a whole new way of interpreting some classics!

“The gouging tracks tear at the plaster on the walls as Desmerelda deliver high-impact rock ‘n’ roll that has the listener reaching for the volume controls just to make sure there isn’t an extra level they haven’t previously discovered.” - EMERGING INDIE BANDS

It has now definitely reached the point where it wouldn’t be Hazefest without a set from Dezzy. Expect searing riffs on both electric and bass, powerhouse drumming, rock poses a-plenty and some of the best indie songwriting this side of anywhere. 66% Hayes School alumni and we couldn’t be more proud!

Desmerelda in full effect!

Gods and Monsters at HAZE5EST, July 2018

After tearing up the MainStage at HAZE5EST last year, Gods and Monsters are back to set Hazefest6 on fire with a brand new set of crowd-pleasing classics. With the guitar section now boosted by the welcome addition of Mr M. Dunn, Messers Foster, Petty, Gunning, Tucker and faithful alumni Brett Snr and Gunning Jnr(no relation) are guaranteed to get the Gadsden crowd bouncing, dancing, arm-waving and singing along. Your presence is very definitely required for this.

Wooden Houses

Bringing a bit of edgy, dirty, indie class to Hazefest6 are Wooden Houses, a hugely talented 4 piece featuring Hayes Alumni Sam Cordingley (2017). With their recent EP gathering a very positive buzz and a host of gigs on the horizon, we’re getting this property just as it’s about to get very hot. If you don’t believe me, have a listen to the link below!

Soproni are a genuine Hayes School supergroup, comprising a variety of performers who have made or furthered their names on the Hazefest stage over the last few years. Fronted by one of HAZE5EST’s solo performers, Hannah Martin, with Matt Layson, Ben Martin and Casey Brett from last year’s Attic Stage phenomenon Revolver providing a very powerful engine, Soproni have the credentials to grab this mainstage slot by the scruff of the neck and establish their place in Hazefest history!

The hardest working group in show business, the mighty JAMSESH are getting Hazefest 6 off to a storming start by curating our own little fest within a fest, The Attic on the Lawn. Expect to see all manner of styles represented, from country to hip-hop to rock (and the return of last year’s Attic Stage smash, SELDom) culminating in the now customary set from some of Jamsesh’s finest.

Hazefest - A Pictorial History!

Highlights from HAZEFEST 1-5

HAZEFEST is about so much more than music. It's a day for chilling out in the sun with family and friends. All your catering needs will be met by the FULLY LICENCED PTA BAR, selling a range of alcoholic and soft drinks while it wouldn't be Hazefest without the ever-popular STONE-BAKED PIZZA stall and a variety of other food outlets, this year including a GOURMET BURGER VAN! You can of course bring your own refreshments and picnics and over 18s are welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages.

New for Hazefest 6 is HAZEFEST MARKET, a designated area at the back of the arena for stalls and merchandise. Alongside our regular facepainter, the highly renowned Shirley Wheeler of PINK FISH FACEPAINTING, we will have a variety of festival inspired stalls selling a range of exciting accessories and delicacies!

HAZEFEST is for EVERYONE. There will be performers from all key stages in the school so we really want to see the whole school community reflected in the audience too!

Tickets for HAZE5EST are £10 adults and £5 for students 18 and under. They can be purchased on Hayes School Parent Pay or Ticket Tailor online (see the link directly below). HAZEFEST is a family event - all ages are most welcome!
