Yamanobe no Michi Hiking near miwa, nara prefecture

We certainly got off the tourist trail today once we started hiking the Yamanobe no Michi trail. Amazing blossoms, and virtually no tourists! Quite a change from Kyoto. We started off after enjoying a lunch of the local specialty - somen. Had ours with mushrooms and seaweed. Yummy!

Somen, the special local noodles

Still can't get enough of the sakura! 💕 The light rain made the colours pop even more. So many wonderful shades from white to deep pink.

This area is the ancient capital, so we passed tombs of Emporers, and many shrines. This was at Chougaku-ji Temple, from the 9th century.
