Have you ever thought of learning all about Thomas Jefferson? Thomas Jefferson was one of our Founding Fathers. He was a man of many talents who had many important accomplishments in his life.

Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743 in Albemarle County Virginia. His parents, Peter and Jane were wealthy landowners. He also had six sisters and three brothers. He was only nine when he knew three languages Greek, Latin, and French. He loved to read. He was only eleven when his father died. Thomas had great education. He went to the College of William and Mary at the young age of sixteen. He loved collecting books. He studied law and history.

Jefferson took office after Benjamin Franklin as minister to France in 1785. His sympathy for the French Revolution led him into conflict with Alexander Hamilton when Jefferson was Secretary of State in President Washington's Cabinet. He resigned in 1793.

He graduated in 1762. He had many jobs. He was a lawyer for a little while. He got elected to the House of Burgesses in 1768. Thomas Jefferson built Monticello in 1769. Thomas Jefferson got married on January 1st 1772. Thomas Jefferson married Martha Wayles Skelton. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration of Independence 1776. He got elected for president February 17, 1801. Thomas Jefferson was president from 1801-1809. Thomas Jefferson purchased 828,000 square miles of America, also known as the Louisiana Purchase. The purchase was $15 million. Thomas Jefferson founded the University of Virginia in 1819. In July 4,1826 Thomas Jefferson died at the age of 83 years old. Thomas Jefferson died of kidney problems.

I think that Thomas Jefferson is a very important person. He has changed reality. He was a great person. He was known as a Founding Father.
