Cassidy Coldren Post IMpressionist Painting

Post Impressionist Painting Rough Draft

Starry Night Over the Rhone by Vincent van Gogh-- Painted in 1888

I chose this painting because it is really pretty to me. I also really like the reflection on the water of the stars. I like all of Van Gogh's work. The subject matter of this piece is a starry night over the lake. Van Gogh used choppy brush strokes to show a beautiful landscape. The tools used to paint this is lots of paint, a brush, and a palette knife. Van Gogh used the impasto technique with he also used in many of his other paintings.

These are the 3 brush stroke types I found in the picture I chose above (Starry Night Over the Rhone).
