For starters Antigone depicts a stark difference in how women are perceived versus their actual role in society. Despite these false notions Antigone kind of takes over and becomes the center of the show dispite Creole expecting men to be the lead.

Another thing is we constantly see Antigone challenged and punished because she's a woman but she's not afraid to challenge the thinking of the men around her as well as her sister Ismene who also believes men are superior.
