Shakespeare by robert orozco period 3

Thesis: Shakespeare made an impact on the world through his writing, influence on Modern English.

Early 1

Quote: " William attended grammar school, where he studied Latin grammar, Latin literature, and rhetoric ( the uses of language). As far as we know, he had no further formal education"( Anderson 776-777).

Paraphrase: Shakespeare had very basic education to become and actor never the less a play writer. Yet he ended up surpassing the other play writers of England.

My Ideas: In today's society he surpasses most of the world with his plays. Most would consider him genius even with the little education he had.

Early 2

Quote: "In 1594 Shakespeare became an actor and playwright for the Lord Chamberlain's Men, the company that later became the King's Men under James I" ("William").

Paraphrase: Shakespeare had just began his acting and playwright career in 1954 right before his middle life. The company became the King's Men making Shakespeare of noble class.

My Ideas: I think the company helped boost Shakespeare's career as an actor and as a play writer. From this moment on people began to recognize him.

Early 3

Quote:" Romeo and Juliet was probably among the early plays that Shakespeare wrote, between 1594 and 1596"(Anderson).

Paraphrase: One of Shakespeare's good plays he made in his early career that helped him get known. This play made the meaning of love change for teenagers and even adults.

My Ideas: I think this play was an influence in the society back then and even the society today. It gave people a understanding of what being in love could be like.

Early 4

Quote: "By 1592, Shakespeare apparently attracted the hostile attention of a jealous rival"(Lander).

Paraphrase: Shakespeare was challenged by a rival he had to outshine in his career. His rival probably wanted to take his place which would make Shakespeare have to work harder to keep his place.

My Ideas: I believe this quote is inspiring because it shows he worked extra hard to be the very best. It also showed he did not back down to nobody.

Middle 1

Quote: " Year after year he provided it with plays, almost on demand. Shakespeare was the ultimate professional writer"(Anderson).

Paraphrase: He was in a group called the King's Men that worked for King James himself. Shakespeare was the one providing plays yearly because he was the best writer in all of England.

My Ideas: I believe that Shakespeare was truly the ultimate because his works were so interesting and different. He was influencing through the creativity and thought that goes into his work.

Middle 2

Quote: "Records also tell us that several of Shakespeare's plays were popular by this time, including Henry VI, The Comedy of Errors , and Titus Andronicus"(Mabillard).

Middle 3

Quote: "In the early 1600’s Shakespeare also began writing his sonnets"(Rosenblum).

Paraphrase: In Shakespeare's middle years of his life he was making so many hit plays. This was when his career really took off.

My Ideas: I believe that this quote shows many people watched his plays. Which means they had to be entertained or influenced by his works.

Late 1

Quote: "During his last eight years, Shakespeare was the sole author of only three plays— Cymbeline, The Tempest, and The Winter’s Tale"(Lander).

Paraphrase: He was not making many plays toward the end of his life. Shakespeare only made three plays in eight years because he was getting close to wanting to retire.

My ideas: I believe he is inspiring since he still was making plays before he died. This shows it does not matter how old you are you can do anything.

Late 2

Quote: "By 1612, Shakespeare had become England’s most successful playwright. He apparently divided his time between Stratford and London"(Lander).

Paraphrase: Shakespeare was getting fame in England for all his plays he wrote. He would have lodging in London and go to Stratford for family events.

My Ideas: I believe people all over the world knew who Shakespeare was during this time. He became so successful as a playwright globally.

Late 3

Quote: " By 1612, when he returned to Stratford to live the life of prosperous retired gentlemen, Shakespeare had written thirty-seven plays, including such masterpieces as Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Othello, King Lear, and Macbeth"(Anderson).

Paraphrase: He eventually retired as a very successful playwright. He made 32 plays and a lot of them were very popular.

My Ideas: I believe when he retired he inspired many people throughout his career with his great plays. He goes in the history books as one of the best or even the best play writers.
