Here at Gerhard's Appliance, we are proud supporters of JDRF & One Walk. JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF hosts "One Walk", a family oriented & exciting event where dedicated volunteers, sponsors and of course walkers raise money for T1D.
But what is T1D? Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes both children and adults suddenly. The prognosis has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle and T1D is not preventable. At the moment, there is no cure for this disease. SO WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

Shane loves sports, especially soccer! He is a bright, funny and energetic boy. Shane has lived with Type 1 diabetes since he was just 2 years old. He and many other children face the challenges of life with T1D, which involve a 24/7, unrelenting cycle of blood sugar testing and insulin injections to manage the disease.
