Dr. Nancy Winters, PhD, RN, ANP-C

I am Dr. Nancy Winters, RN, PhD, ANP-C, and the faculty member for this course. I would like to tell you a little about myself and look forward to getting to know each of you.

Professionally, I have been a nurse for more than 20 years. Most of my clinical practice was in a state run teaching hospital offering Level 1 trauma services to the surrounding communities. Here I practiced primarily in the ICU and Emergency Department settings.

I received my PhD from Adelphi University, where emphasis was on nursing education. I received both my MS in Adult Health Nursing and my BS in Nursing from Stony Brook University.

On a personal level, I love bicycling with my husband of 28 years and we try to ride 100 miles weekly. We take many vacations to enrich our understanding of this beautiful country we live in. My husband and I have raised 25-year old identical twin boys who have grown into beautiful young men.

Returning to school to advance your degree is not easy. It is a journey that leaves you needing to balance work, family and multiple other demands. However, the reward in the end is grand and you should rest assured that you will get there. I applaud you!

I really look forward to interacting with you and learning about you over the next seven weeks. Please feel free to send me an email should you ever have any questions or if I can help in any way. In addition to being able to post a question in our classroom, I can be reached at winternn@delhi.edu. I really look forward to our weeks together.

Here is my husband Jason and I on a carriage ride in Charleston, South Carolina. I remember it was extremely hot that day - but what a beautiful ride. Next to us is our 25 year old twin boys, Tyler (left) and Jonathan (right). Tyler recently graduated from SUNY Stony Brook with a degree in Computer Engineering. His brother, now pursuing the same degree, took a couple of years off of school to "find" himeself.

This is a mountain at Harriman State Park that my husband and I hiked up. It was beautiful.

My husband and I try to bike about 100 miles a week - when the weather allows it.

Camping is something that we really enjoy. Camper camping is even better.

Canoeing. Need I say more.

We love to take cruises.

There is nothing like cooking over an open fire.

It was great sharing a bit about myself and my family with you and I look forward to learning about you and your family.
