Are abortions right? Sophie Bretzik

Abortions went into effect as the new effective way to reject pregnancies. However, abortion's starting ground was masked, meaning the true intention of an abortion was hidden from the public. Margaret Sanger, the founder of abortions, believed in "popular race" (this means one race is more superior that another). Sanger thought that African Americans were worth less than other races when calling them "...human weeds,' 'reckless breeders,' 'spawning... human beings who never should have been born. Abortion was the gateway to African American extinction in Sanger's mind. However, Sanger didn't want the public to know; She said, "We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population." Overall, abortion wasn't only a problem from the start but it comes with so many more flaws.

The most common argument regarding abortions is that it is a woman’s choice whether or not to abort the unborn baby. The woman carries the baby therefore giving her the rights to the baby. However, it is impossible to contradict the fact that it takes a woman and a man to make a child. The man contributes to half of the baby’s unchanging, unrepeatable DNA. Hence, the man should have a say-or at least a position- in whether or not the baby is aborted. Overall, aborting a baby ins't a women's choice, it is a couple's decision.

Many people are convinced that abortion isn’t to be considered murder since the baby isn’t yet alive/born. However, the baby starts its life from the moment of conception till death, despite it not being born yet. Abortion kills a human being; Abortions stops a beating heart. An abortion at any part of biological development is murder, and that is unacceptable.

Abortion has been proven to be unsafe and harmful over and over. Can you believe that 47,000 women die around the world due to failed or unsafe abortions? That is 13% of all maternal deaths! Unfortunately, women are continuing to undergo abortions due to financial burdens and social shame or disgrace of unplanned pregnancy or believing they have no other option. Now why would you risk your life to take another's?

There is a common belief that women who are raped should be granted an abortion without any question. This is because it is believed to be that the child will remind the women of the traumatic experience, therefore aborting the child will… However, aborting an innocent baby doesn’t undo what has happened. At first, the thought of aborting the “rape baby” seems like a reasonable choice, but the trauma will forever live inside of that person. Something that we must understand is that rape isn’t a choice, and it never was. The only thing we can do to a victim is give compassion and there is nothing compassionate about abortions.

Abortion is wrong for many reasons. Not only was it created for evil, but it is also inhumane. We abort a baby; We call killing a "convenience". We risk our own lives to take another's. How can we do this? We can't; It needs to stop right know. We cannot let this massive spread of killing continue. It needs to stop.
