LMS Reader's Reflection

Library & Media Services Dept. is supporting district's racial equity initiative with a monthly list of diverse books for all age ranges. The goal is for “EVERY CHILD BEING ABLE TO FIND A MIRROR OF HIMSELF IN A BOOK THROUGH CULTURE AND LANGUAGE.” Share with you school community.


Junior League of Dallas Grant for Innovative Teaching 2020-21 recipient. Dallas ISD Librarian Profile: Provides a safe & conducive learning environment; Provides opportunities for learners to express & advocate diverse perspectives.
Junior League of Dallas Grant for Innovative Teaching 2020-21 recipient. Ms. DeFord, project asked students to create an alien including characteristics, along with an invention and how they created it. To kick off the project students will research different possible environments and survival needs of organisms. Dallas ISD Librarian Profile: Cultivates learners to build on prior knowledge & apply critical analysis of information.

Dynamic Librarians:

DESA Librarian, Monica Vega's Zoom lesson on recognizing and appreciating different perspective was highly engaging and Lead Librarian was particularly impressed with how she connected students to SIRS Discoverer articles on POV. Very age-appropriate and high-tech! AASL Standards: Engage.Grow & Inquire.Grow

Our Books-to-Go program in full swing at Walker MS, Gonzalez Elem, & Callejo Elem.

  • R10 Supporting Students with Dyslexia Nov. 16th 4-5pm must register by 11/12
